Iheanacho Back in The Spotlight

One of the biggest reasons for Nigerian fans to tune in will be Kelechi Iheanacho.

The striker returns to the Super Eagles squad after missing the recent AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.

Iheanacho's return gives Chelle another attacking option at a time when Nigeria's forward line has come under scrutiny.

The Super Eagles struggled to make their possession count in the 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau, making Iheanacho's movement, link-up play and finishing particularly interesting to watch against Russia.

The friendly could also give him an opportunity to strengthen his case for a more prominent role in Chelle's plans.

Nwabali Gets Another Chance

Stanley Nwabali is another player that Nigerian fans will be watching closely.

The Chippa United goalkeeper remains one of the most recognizable members of the Super Eagles squad and is expected to get an opportunity against Russia despite flopping against Guinea-Bissau last time out.

So, with Maduka Okoye unavailable for the friendly, Nwabali has another chance to make his case to Chelle.

Russia will definitely provide a demanding test, particularly after their impressive results against Iran and Namibia.

Why Miranchuk could cause problems

Russia's biggest threat will come from a team that has already shown it can hurt opponents in attack.

Aleksey Miranchuk is one of the players Nigeria will have to keep an eye on.

The former Atalanta attacking midfielder has the technical quality to operate between the lines and can punish defensive gaps with his passing and movement.

That could make him particularly dangerous against a Nigerian side that has recently shown vulnerabilities without the ball.
