Super Eagles invitee reveals three qualities to expect against Madagascar & Guinea-Bissau

Super Eagles newboy Moses Usor has revealed what fans should expect from him as he prepares to make his debut for the national team, Soccernet.ng reports.

Usor has enjoyed a remarkable rise in his career in recent years since joining Austrian side LASK in 2024. The 24-year-old helped the club win the Austrian league and cup double during the 2025-26 season, with LASK securing the domestic double for the first time since the 1964-65 campaign.

Usor now has a major opportunity to impress Nigerian fans after receiving another Super Eagles call-up from head coach Eric Chelle. The attacker was included in Nigeria’s 24-man squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau later this month.

He had previously been called up for the 2026 Unity Cup but eventually withdrew from the tournament after suffering an injury.

Nigeria went on to win the competition for the fourth straight time, defeating Zimbabwe 2-0 in the semi-final before beating Jamaica 3-0 in the final.

Moses Usor reveals what Super Eagles fans can expect

Usor will face competition for a place in a star-studded Super Eagles attack despite the absence of Victor Osimhen, with the likes of Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon also options in Chelle’s squad.

However, the LASK forward is unfazed by the competition and is focused on bringing his own qualities to the team if he gets the opportunity to play.

“I hold tremendous respect for each of them. My objective is to contribute my distinctive strengths, my pace and incisive play, while supporting the team’s objectives”, the 24-year-old told Footy-Africa.

“Regardless of the position Coach Eric Chelle assigns me for the Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau matches, I will give my complete commitment.

“I hope the fans will come out to cheer us on matchday because, if I play, I want to do well and show my sincere gratitude to all Nigerians and everyone who has supported my career from the Czech Republic through Austria.

“I will represent this nation with honour and dedication. This is merely the beginning. With God’s blessing, I am determined to make you all proudl”, he added.

The upcoming qualifiers give Usor another opportunity to represent the Super Eagles after injury prevented him from taking part in the Unity Cup.

The 24-year-old is delighted to have earned another invitation and believes his difficult period during rehabilitation has made the latest call-up even more special.

“It’s truly wonderful, to be honest, to get another invitation. The injury that kept me out of the Unity Cup was incredibly difficult to endure, yet I remained committed and optimistic”, he revealed.

“Receiving this Super Eagles call-up for these crucial AFCON qualifiers shows that divine providence never abandons us. I’m deeply appreciative and genuinely thrilled.

“That injury before the Unity Cup was an exceptionally challenging time. Suffering an injury right before a national team opportunity was emotionally taxing.

“However, my family, my club LASK and my mentors at 36 Lion provided unwavering encouragement. I remained dedicated to the recovery process, completed my rehabilitation diligently and resolved that I would return even stronger”, Usor concluded.

Nigeria will face Madagascar on Friday in their opening 2027 AFCON qualifier before taking on Guinea-Bissau on September 29, as they target a fast start to their campaign and avoid another major disappointment.
