Serie A: Lecce eye €4m Nigerian wonderkid after Otele setback

​Italian Serie A club Lecce is abandoning their pursuit of Super Eagles winger Philip Otele, but they have identified another Nigerian attacker and are making serious efforts to acquire his services, Soccernet.ng reports.

​Lecce has been in the market for a new winger this summer as they look to bolster their forward line. The club has struggled to score goals for the last three seasons, a factor that has constantly kept them in the relegation battle.

​This summer, they have been heavily linked with Otele. However, a deal appears unlikely, as Lecce wants a loan, whereas Basel want a permanent transfer.

​As a result, they are now exploring other options. According to reports, another Nigerian, Daniel Job, could be headed to Apulia.

​Who is Daniel Job?

​Daniel Job is a Nigerian attacker who currently plies his trade for Norwegian OBOS-ligaen (second tier) club Kongsvinger.

​He has been in Norway since 2024. He first joined Sarpsborg from the Nigerian academy Future PA before transferring to Egersund last year.

​Then, in February of this year, he left Sarpsborg permanently for Kongsvinger. Since arriving at the club, he has taken the OBOS-ligaen by storm, registering seven goals and eight assists in 16 appearances.

He is known for his pace, directness, technical skill, and goalscoring ability. He is also a formidable dribbler and excels at creating chances.

​At just 20 years of age, there is still ample room for improvement, meaning he will flourish in the right environment. Job's best position is on the left wing, where he uses his right foot to cut inside and shoot, though he can also play on the right wing and as a central striker.

​Lecce: Serie A Club Submits Bid for Job

​According to transfer market expert Sacha Tavolieri, Lecce has submitted a bid for Job. They sent in an offer of €2.5 million plus 500,000 euros in add-ons, but Kongsvinger rejected the offer.

​The Norwegian club is holding out for a guaranteed €4 million for the Nigerian. It remains unknown whether Lecce will submit an improved second bid to meet the player's valuation.

​Lecce is not the only club interested in Job, however. The young Nigerian is also being monitored by Norwich City, RB Salzburg, FC Basel, and AIK.

​It remains to be seen who will ultimately secure his services. However, given the quality Job has shown he is certain to land a major transfer in the near future.
