One-cap Super Eagles star confident of success after €3m Amedspor move

One-cap Super Eagles star Yira Sor is confident of making a strong impact at Turkish Super Lig newcomers Amedspor following his €3 million transfer from Belgian club Genk, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 26-year-old winger completed a three-year move to Amedspor this summer after bringing an end to his three-and-a-half-year spell with Genk.

Sor has already featured twice for his new club but is yet to find the back of the net or provide an assist.

The Nigerian, who made his Super Eagles debut in March, is now hoping his move to Turkey can provide the consistency required to take his career to another level after injuries disrupted his time in Belgium.

Sor confident goals and assists will come

Sor admitted that adapting to a new country and league takes time, but believes he is already settling into life at Amedspor.

“I am gradually settling into life in the city and I like it already, and soon, the goals and assists will come surely,” the former Slavia Prague attacker told Footy-Africa.

The winger also revealed that the reception he has received from the club and supporters has helped him adjust to his new surroundings.

“Moving to a new country and a new league is usually not easy for any player, but I have been made to feel at home and welcome here, both by the fans and the management of the club,” he added.

Yira Sor targets strong start at Amedspor

Sor's confidence is partly built around the qualities he believes he can offer his new team. The former Genk player sees himself as a direct attacker capable of both creating and finishing chances, something Amedspor will need as they compete in the Turkish Super Lig.

“It is still early days, but I am sure that I will succeed here and make the fans smile,” Sor said.

“They should expect good things from me. I like to consider myself as a fast and direct player who loves to set others up for goals and also score himself.”

Super Eagles opportunity adds extra motivation

Beyond his club ambitions, Sor's move could also prove important for his international career.

The fleet-footed winger earned his first Super Eagles cap in March and will be looking to use regular football in Turkey to strengthen his case for future invitations.

After an injury-hit spell at Genk, consistent performances at Amedspor would give Sor the platform to build momentum both at club level and with Nigeria.

“Hopefully the goals and assists to help my team do well will come. I am confident about that,” he concluded.

While optimism is good, Yira Sor has to start delivering for Amedspor if he's to get a chance of a second invitation to Eric Chelle's Super Eagles squad.
