Benfica sign 21-year-old Nigerian winger

Portuguese giants Benfica have confirmed the signing of Nigerian attacker Flourish Sabastine on a free transfer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Aba-born winger joined Fenerbahce last year, and she won the women's Super Lig with the club last season. She was a key player, as she contributed 12 goals in 25 games across all competitions.

However, her contract at the club expired at the end of the campaign. Recall that she even started playing in Turkey two years ago with Galatasaray before switching to their rivals.

But she has called time on her stay in Turkey, as she has signed for Benfica who are reigning champions of Portugal.

Sabastine signed a three-year contract that will keep her at the club until 2029. And the length of the contract just goes to show how much the club believes in her.

With her move, she is now the second Super Eagles star at Benfica, alongside Christy Ucheibe who is currently with the Super Falcons at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

The Benfica move is a good one for both player and club, as it will give the young Super Falcons star an opportunity to get some stability after changing four different clubs in three years. The fact that she penned a three-year deal means that she will spend at least two.

For the club, they are not paying a transfer fee for a gifted 21-year-old with a high potential. Sebastine is quick, good with the ball on her feet, dribbles well, and regularly pops up with goals.
