Anderlecht table ₦5.5bn bid for Super Eagles star

Belgian Jupiler Pro League club Anderlecht have tabled a €3.5 million (₦5.5 billion) bid for Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke, Soccernet.ng reports.

​Ejuke's future has been a major issue at Sevilla this summer. Despite having one year left on his contract, he is expected to leave.

​In fact, the talk did not just start this summer; there has been speculation about his future since last summer, but nothing came out of those talks. The 28-year-old winger has had a topsy-turvy time at Sevilla, but his performances are not really the reason the club wants to sell him.

​Rather, they need to sell some first-team players so they can raise money to meet up with La Liga standings.

​Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Ejuke resumed pre-season training at the club. However, as a signal that he is not in coach Gracia Plaza's plans, he was left out of their traveling squad to the Netherlands for pre-season.

​Now, it appears he might be headed for Belgium.

​Why Anderlecht Want Chidera Ejuke

​According to reports from Vamos Sevilla, Ejuke might just be headed to Anderlecht following the bid from the Belgian club.

​Anderlecht have failed to pull their weight in the Jupiler Pro League in recent years, and they are now looking to add more talent so they can challenge the likes of Union SG and Club Brugge.

​Ejuke has experience playing in Belgium, as he previously donned the colors of Antwerp in the 2023/24 season. During his time there, he registered four goals and four assists in 29 league games.

​Sevilla are very willing to do business, so they won't hold out for a big fee, especially since they signed the Super Eagles star for free two years ago.

​But as of now, it has not been confirmed whether they will accept Antwerp's bid or if the player is willing to move there.

​Saudi Arabia is also a possible destination, as Ejuke has offers from there, and they will definitely tempt him with a lucrative offer.

​Nonetheless, with the transfer market still open for a month, the Nigerian attacker's situation should be clearer soon.
