Super Eagles of Nigeria will compete in a four-nation invitational tournament in Amman during next month’s FIFA Men’s International Window, Soccernet.ng reports.

This is part of ongoing preparations for future international commitments, particularly Iran and Jordan, who will both be participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The three-time African champions are scheduled to open their campaign against the Iran national football team on Friday, 27 March 2026, at the Amman International Stadium, which has a capacity of 17,000.

Super Eagles begin tournament against Iran

On the same day, the tournament hosts the Jordan national football team, which will face the Costa Rica national football team at the larger King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, which can accommodate over 60,000 spectators.

The competition will conclude on Tuesday, 31 March, with Nigeria taking on Jordan at the Amman International Stadium, while Costa Rica and Iran meet at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

Chelle to use tournament for squad rebuild

The tournament is an opportunity for the Super Eagles to steady the team after their 2025 AFCON campaign.

Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to use the matches to integrate new talents into the senior squad and assess tactical options as the Super Eagles prepare for upcoming competitions.

Off the pitch, the Nigeria Football Federation is still awaiting a ruling from FIFA over its petition alleging that DR Congo fielded ineligible players during the decisive playoff tie.

This decision is due on 16 February 2026 and could yet reopen Nigeria’s route to the inter-confederation playoffs scheduled to take place in Mexico.

Until then, the four-nation tournament in Amman will provide the Super Eagles with valuable competitive action against varied opposition from Asia, Central America and the Middle East, helping the team maintain momentum and cohesion amid uncertainty over their World Cup fate.
