“It was a difficult one” – Super Eagles captain Ndidi reacts to Anthony Joshua’s car crash which killed two

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has sent his condolences to British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two friends and left the former champion injured, Soccernet.ng reports.

On Monday, news emerged that the two-time unified heavyweight world champion was involved in a horrific accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Joshua, 36, who recently beat Jake Paul, was traveling to Sagamu to visit his extended family when his vehicle reportedly collided with a stationary trailer parked by the roadside.

While Joshua survived the impact and was conscious when emergency services arrived, his two companions, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, tragically lost their lives at the scene.

As a proud representative of his Nigerian heritage, Joshua has always maintained a deep connection with the country.

Since the news of the accident broke, a wave of tributes and condolences has poured in from Nigerians and other across the globe. Some of the notable names include Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, fellow boxer Chris Eubank Jr., and promoter Eddie Hearn.

Wilfred Ndidi Offers Strength to Anthony Joshua

On Tuesday, following Nigeria’s 3-1 victory over Uganda to close out the AFCON 2025 group stage, skipper Wilfred Ndidi took a moment to address the tragedy.

Speaking to Soccernet.ng exclusively, the midfielder expressed his deep sadness over the situation.

”Ah man, it was a difficult one when we heard that,” Ndidi told Soccernet.ng.

“He lost his friends. It’s really, really a sad one, you know. I hope he can recover from that. I wish him strength, and his family, and the family of the guys who died also all the strength.”
