The Super Eagles will be targeting a fourth title in Morocco later this year…

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has expressed confidence that Nigeria will win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 2025 AFCON is set to kick off next month in Morocco, and 24 of the best footballing countries on the continent will be slugging it out to be crowned kings.

This year promises to be quite competitive, as many of the participating teams can boast of good football talents.

Still, teams like Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria, Cameroon, hosts Morocco, and defending champions Ivory Coast, are some of the favourites going into the competition.

In the meantime, Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been speaking about Nigeria's chances of emerging as champions next month.

The Chippa United shot-stopper was part of the Super Eagles squad that finished second in Ivory Coast last time out. And he believes that the three-time African champions can increase their AFCON titles haul in Morocco.

“Going into the tournament which is one of the biggest in the world, as a big nation, we (Nigeria) always expect to win,” Nwabali told Supersports.

“We don't go just to go participate, but football is something you don't predict. But after playing the final last year, probably this year, I feel we are going to win.”

Can The Super Eagles Win AFCON 2025?

Going into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations next month, the Super Eagles are definitely one of the favourites.

They have some of the best players on the continent with stars like Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi. These are players who can hold their own on their day.

However, the jury is still out on coach Eric Chelle, who is yet to prove his quality beyond doubt. The team is also over-reliant on Osimhen. So, in a case where the Galatasaray man gets injured, there will likely be problems.

The last time the Super Eagles won the AFCON was in 2013. This current crop of players haven't achieved anything for the country yet. So they will be looking to rewrite history in Morocco.
