Super Eagles and Fulham attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi is pumped ahead of an emotional return to Everton on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 29-year-old moved from Arsenal to Everton for €30m in 2019, and went on to spend another four years at the Mersey side Stadium before he joined Fulham.

Iwobi‘s time at Everton wasn't the best, as he suffered from multiple injuries, a lack of playing time, and even when he was on the pitch, he played out of position.

However, his career turned around when the manager who brought him to Everton (Marco Silva) opted to bring him to Fulham again two years ago.

Iwobi recalls good Everton memories

The move to Craven Cottage put the Nigerian's career back on track, as he's now scored more goals for Fulham than he did for any other club.

The Hale End Academy graduate reached a personal high of goal contributions in a Premier League season last campaign, scoring nine goals and providing six assists.

Ahead of this weekend's trip to the Hill Dickinson's Stadium, Iwobi is looking to create new memories against his former club.

“In life, sometimes you have to move on,” the one-time FA Cup winner said in quotes revealed by Everton News.

“I have some good memories of Goodison Park, but now I am looking to create new memories playing against them, and hopefully we can get a win.

“It always feels special to face a former team, but I will look to treat it like any other team. I try to treat all opponents the same way,” he concluded.

Iwobi is the first-ever Nigerian footballer to play 300 Premier League games.
