Super Eagles and Werder Bremen forward Victor Boniface has joined Phil Foden and Vinícius Jr. among top footballing stars who've seen their market value regress in 2025, Soccernet.ng reports.

Primarily fueled by players' performances on the pitch, other factors like age, contract length, potential, economic climate and injury records can effect positive or negative change on a player's market value.

With just over two months left in 2025, Soccernet.ng takes a look at the players whose stocks have nosedived the most this year. All values are gotten from Transfermarkt.

1. Phil Foden

The Manchester City attacking midfielder was the 2023/2024 Premier League Player of the Season as he scored 19 goals and provided eight assists to win the fourth-consecutive English top-flight league title for Pep Guardiola's side.

However, the Englishman couldn't replicate the same form the following season, as he scored just seven goals and Manchester City finished third behind Arsenal and Liverpool.

Foden's market value hit €80m from €140m in 2024, experiencing a €60m dip.

2. Vinícius Jr.

The Real Madrid winger was nominated for the Ballon d'Or after helping Real Madrid secure the 2024 UEFA Champions League title at Wembley. Ultimately, the award went to Manchester City's Rodri.

Maybe the rippling effect of a personal award not going his way, or the arrival of Kylian Mbappe taking the light off him at Madrid, the Brazilian experienced a little decline in his performances.

As a result, his market value dropped to €150m from €200m in 2024, hitting a €50m decline.

3. Gavi

The 2022 Kopa trophy winner missed 316 days of football action due to a cruciate ligament injury, and he's not been back to peak physical form since then.

As a result, his market value dropped to €40m, a €40m decline from the amount he was worth a year ago.

The Spaniard is currently out injured after undergoing an Arthroscopy procedure to solve a meniscus issue in his right knee.

4. Rodri

The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner suffered a cruciate ligament injury that saw him miss 53 games for club and country. The injuries and absence of game time saw his market value dip from €130m to €90m.

5. Eduardo Camavinga

The 22-year-old has seen his gametime reduce at the Santiago Bernabeu over the past year, while also suffering two hamstring injuries and an ankle problem.

These factors played a huge role as his market value reduced to €50m from the 2024 value of €80m.

6. Martin Ødegaard

The Arsenal captain saw his market value dip from €110m to €80m after a far-from-convincing campaign with Arsenal in 2024.

A 33% deduction in goal contribution output, alongside an ankle sprain that saw his miss almost three months of action for Mikel Arteta's side played a huge role in the dip.

7. Bernardo Silva

The Portuguese midfielder is now worth €28m less than he was a year ago. He was involved in over 20 goals for Manchester City in their title-winning run, but the following campaign saw him rack up just nine goal involvements. His current market value stands at €32m

8. Victor Boniface

Boniface's injury problems at Leverkusen saw him lose his starting spot to Patrick Schick at the Bay Arena.

After a debut campaign that saw him score 21 goals and provide nine assists in 2024, the Super Eagles forward could only find the back of the net 11 times the following year.

Injury doubts saw his proposed move to AC Milan cancelled, before he eventually joined Werder Bremen on a season-long loan for free.

Boniface is now worth €20m, compared to the €45m he was worth in the transfermarket last year.

9. Dušan Vlahović

The Serbian's value dipped by €25m, and he's now worth €35m after a domestic campaign that saw him hit his lowest goal output since 2021.

10. James Maddison

The England midfielder left Leicester City in 2024 to join Tottenham Hotspur for €46.3m, but he's only worth €35m after suffering a cruciate ligament injury a few months back.
