The Super Falcons will take on Benin in their opening game of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations……

Brighton goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has stated that the Super Falcons are expecting a tough fight from Benin on Friday, but they will put in their all to seal to win the game, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigeria won the last Women's Africa Cup of Nations, and the team will be expected to qualify for the next edition seamlessly.

Their first hurdle is against Benin away from home, and they will be looking to start on a strong note. The game is a knockout and will be over two legs.

Going into the game, Nigeria are overwhelming favourites, due to their pedigree and the quality of their squad.

However, goalkeeper Nnadozie has insisted that they are expecting a tough game from the Beninoise women.

She believes that Benin will be motivated by the prospect of downing the reigning champions. Nonetheless, she is positive that they will claim a good result.

“Tomorrow, our thoughts is nothing but victory. But it's not going to be easy because we are African champions and they will want to come hard on us, Nnadozie said.

“The WAFCON has passed; We've put that behind us. The Benin Republic side are a good team. I've played with some of their players while in France. It's a new phase and we are doing everything possible to win today.” – Chiamaka Nnadozie at the pre-match press conference ahead of… pic.twitter.com/Yfb6Jfm9S2

“We will do everything possible to defend our name and defend our trophy. Our trophy defence starts today. Since we got into the country, we've been focused, the coaches are doing everything to put on the right track,” she added.

Nnadozie, who now plies her trade at Brighton, after moving from Paris FC in the summer, will be looking to do just enough to edge out Benin in the first leg.

Can The Super Falcons Defeat Benin?

The Super Falcons are unarguably the best and most-talented female team in Africa, so they should be able to claim the win.

There have been a few hiccups in the build-up to the game against Benin, as most of the players arrived late to camp, while some pulled out due to injuries.

Still, they should be able to claim a first-leg advantage before finishing the job in Nigeria by next week.
