Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has hit back at an Instagram user who attempted to undermine women’s football with a sexist comment, Soccernet.ng reports.
The incident happened under a post by the official Saudi Women’s Premier League (saudi_wpl) account, which involved Plumptre and her Al-Ittihad Ladies teammate, Algerian midfielder Lina Boussaha.
The caption praised the duo’s bright displays in the Saudi topflight:
“ثنائي جديد بـ ألوان @ittihadladiesclub يتألق في ساحة دورينا ” (Translation: “A new duo in Al-Ittihad colours shining in our league.”)
While many fans celebrated the post, one user, @ahmadazizofficial, dropped a derogatory comment:
“Ronaldo 8???? Lady we are 100% sure your place is in the kitchen, not football field.”

The Super Falcons star, never one to shy away from defending women in sport, swiftly replied:
“Actually, Lina Boussaha is an incredible baker.”
Her teammate Boussaha, who donned the colours of Paris Saint-Germain women from 2016 to 2020, then joined in with an equally powerful clapback, commenting:
“Exactly, we cook in the kitchen & on the field.”
