Samuel Chukwueze says he is fully focused on helping Nigeria secure maximum points in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clashes against Rwanda and South Africa after sealing a deadline-day move to Fulham, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles winger joined the Premier League side on a season-long loan from AC Milan, with an option to buy reportedly worth over €25 million.

The transfer reunites him with compatriots Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey at Craven Cottage.

Chukwueze Eyes Rwanda, South Africa Tests

Speaking to Fulham FC TV after completing the switch, Chukwueze made it clear that his attention has now shifted to international duty.

“For now I am just focusing on the game. We need the two games, Rwanda and South Africa. So, I think we have to win the two games to secure our World Cup ticket. Now I've secured this one (Fulham move), so I'm going to focus on getting the job done for Nigeria,” Chukwueze said.

Eagles Open Camp in Uyo

Nigeria open camp in Uyo on September 1 to prepare for the double-header. They will host Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday, September 6, before travelling to Bloemfontein to face South Africa at the Toyota Stadium on Tuesday, September 9.

The Super Eagles are under pressure in Group C, sitting outside the qualification spots after earlier slip-ups.

Former international Ben Iroha recently urged the team to win all remaining matches to revive their chances of reaching the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Osimhen’s Brace Offers Hope

Chukwueze’s inclusion will be a boost for head coach Eric Sekou Chelle, who named a 23-man squad for the crucial fixtures.

Nigeria defeated Rwanda 2–0 in Kigali back in March, thanks to a brace from Victor Osimhen, and will be banking on a repeat performance as they aim to put their World Cup hopes firmly back on track.
