Super Eagles of Nigeria secured all three points during their game against Rwanda thanks to a goal from  Tolu Arokodare who came in from the bench…

Werder Bremen forward Victor Boniface has praised compatriot Tolu Arokodare after netting the decisive goal in Nigeria’s 1–0 victory over Rwanda, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles returned to winning ways at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, with the Wolves' new striker coming off the bench to fire home the only goal of the match early in the second half.

The win gave Nigeria a much-needed boost in Group C, where they remain in a tight race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.

Boniface on Wolves' New Striker

Reacting after the game, Boniface—who was not part of the squad due to fitness concerns—took to his social media page to celebrate his national teammate.

The Bundesliga star reshared a post dedicated to Arokodare, with a simple caption, “Na so my guy.”

Nigeria’s Crucial Win in Context

The clash in Uyo was seen as a do-or-die battle for the three-time AFCON champions after earlier slip-ups in Group C.

Despite dominating possession, the Super Eagles failed to convert their chances in the first half and suffered a blow when Victor Osimhen was forced off injured.

Coach Eric Chelle turned to his bench to bring on Arokodare for Frank Onyeka, and the change paid off almost instantly.

The 24-year-old striker was on hand to capitalise on a goalmouth scramble to hand Nigeria all three points.

Group C Race Heats Up

Earlier in Group C, South Africa defeated Lesotho, while Benin stunned Zimbabwe, which leaves the qualification battle wide open.

Nigeria now sit fourth with nine points but remain firmly in contention to secure a ticket to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
