Super Eagles of Nigeria's 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign enters a crucial phase this weekend as they host Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

After earlier slip-ups in Group C left the three-time African champions outside the qualification spots, Eric Chelle’s men know that only victory will restore momentum ahead of another tricky away tie against South Africa.

Ahead of the game, Nigeria will be banking on individual brilliance to complement collective effort.

5. Stanley Nwabali

The Chippa United goalkeeper recently picked up a knock just weeks before Nigeria’s game against Rwanda. However, he returned to action against Orlando Pirates to calm all fears about injury.

Having proven his worth at the 2023 AFCON tournament and in subsequent games, the Chippa United star has cemented his role as the Super Eagles’ number one goalkeeper and a player Nigeria can rely on between the sticks.

4. Wilfred Ndidi

The new Beşiktaş signing is another player to watch and will be looking to command Nigeria’s midfield. With his passing ability and knack for interceptions, he will be key to Nigeria’s performance against Rwanda.

3. Benjamin Frederick

The 20-year-old has risen through the ranks, from representing the Flying Eagles of Nigeria to now earning his first competitive call-up against Rwanda.

Although the Brentford loanee might not start for Finidi George’s men, if he is introduced during the game, he is another talent to watch for his composure at the heart of the defence.

2. Victor Osimhen

Osimhen completed a permanent move from Napoli to Galatasaray in the summer transfer window and has already scored two goals in three appearances.

Currently the Super Eagles’ second all-time top scorer, the Nigerian striker—who netted a brace the last time Nigeria faced Rwanda in Kigali—will be aiming to wreak similar havoc at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Osimhen is certainly one of the players to watch for his goal threat.

1. Christantus Uche

Uche has proven himself to be a handful for defences, a quality that attracted the interest of Crystal Palace, where he will now look to continue his fine form at Selhurst Park.

It will be recalled that the forward impressed at the Unity Cup, and he is expected to replicate that level of performance when Nigeria face Rwanda.
