Super Eagles duo Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho have been close allies on and off the pitch, Soccernet.ng reports.

It wouldn't be news to say that both players' bond cut across playing together while at Leicester City and even for the Nigerian national team.

Now, Ndidi has officially sealed a move to join the Turkish giants Beşiktaş, and speculation suggests that Iheanacho could be next in line to move to Istanbul.

Reports from both Turkish and Nigerian outlets indicate that Beşiktaş are actively monitoring the forward’s situation at Sevilla, where he is valued at around €3 million.

Here are three reasons why a move to Beşiktaş for Iheanacho is possible

Revive On-Field Bond with Ndidi

Iheanacho and Ndidi’s partnership is tried and tested. Years of playing together at Leicester City mean they have an innate understanding of each other’s playing style.

That familiarity could help Iheanacho hit the ground running at Beşiktaş, instantly syncing with Ndidi, who knows how to supply the passes and create space for him in attack.

Iheanacho Gets Playing Time

While his time at Sevilla has been stop-start, Beşiktaş could provide Iheanacho with a central attacking role.

With the club aiming to challenge for the Süper Lig title and perform strongly in European competitions, Iheanacho could be a key figure in the attack.

More Time, More Call-Ups in Eric Chelle's Squad

Playing time is key to national team call-ups, and if Iheanacho can secure it in his move away from Sevilla to Turkey, there is a high chance that the Nigerian can earn regular call-ups if he performs well in Turkey.

This means that the Nigerian international can once again feature for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the upcoming crucial fixtures—the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 AFCON tournament.
