Report: Christantus Uche could make Wolves debut this weekend amid transfer battle

Wolverhampton Wanderers are closing in on the signing of Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche after submitting a €20 million bid to Getafe, Soccernet.ng reports.

According to reports from the Nigerian football scene, the deal could be finalised for the Super Eagles star in time for him to feature this weekend.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano earlier confirmed Wolves’ official offer and noted that negotiations are already underway between the Premier League side, Getafe, and Uche’s camp.

Wolves are pushing hard to finalise the move quickly as they look to bolster their squad before the transfer window shuts.

How Soon Can Christantus Uche Join Wolves?

Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba has gone even further to say that this is the third bid Getafe have received for the 22-year-old this summer, following interest from Everton, Brentford, and Real Sociedad.

According to Laba, negotiations are at an advanced stage, and an agreement could be struck today if talks progress smoothly.

He also suggested Wolves are preparing to give the go-ahead for personal terms, with hopes that Uche could be available for selection as soon as this weekend.

Getafe: Trouble in Paradise?

Getafe are under financial pressure, having managed to register just three of their nine summer signings due to La Liga’s strict financial controls.

Selling Uche, who has a release clause of €25m, is seen as the quickest way to free up space and resolve their registration crisis.

Club president Ángel Torres has admitted the situation may force their hand, despite their reluctance to lose one of their most valuable assets.

Premier League Teams Battle for Uche

Everton were tipped to launch a €30m bid for Uche earlier this month, while Brentford and Leeds have also monitored his progress closely.

But Wolves have made the first official move, and their swiftness to seal the deal gives them a significant advantage in the transfer battle.

Claims that Uche could debut this weekend seem too good to be true, as the timeline appears ambitious given the requirements of medicals, paperwork, and international clearance.

Meanwhile, if truly all goes well, Uche might be presented to the Wolves fans during the weekend games.
