Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has recently been linked with a move to join Samuel Chukwueze at AC Milan…

Former Super Eagles forward Jonathan Akpoborie has weighed in on Victor Boniface’s transfer situation, Soccernet.ng reports.

Backing a potential move to AC Milan, the former Julius Berger F.C. forward cautioned against a switch to Saudi Arabia at this stage of the striker’s career.

Boniface, who joined Bayer Leverkusen last season, has quickly established himself as a key player for the Bundesliga side, netting 22 goals and providing 11 assists in 42 league appearances, per TransferMarkt.

His performances have attracted interest from several top European clubs, with AC Milan reportedly leading the race.

Akpoborie, who made his name in Germany with clubs like VfL Stuttgart and Wolfsburg, believes a transfer to Milan would be a step up for the 24-year-old forward.

“Boniface did so well last season, and he will be an influential player for Bayer Leverkusen this season,” Akpoborie told Footy Africa. “If that move materialises, it will be an upgrade for him and will act as a stepping stone to move to the Premiership.”

While the Milan move appears promising, Boniface has also been linked with a lucrative switch to the Saudi Pro League.

However, Akpoborie was blunt in dismissing that possibility, insisting it would be too soon for such a decision.

“Saudi what? I know money plays a significant role in life, but he is still too young for such a move,” Akpoborie said. “He will make good money in Europe. Saudi is not running away. It will still be there three to four years later.”

AC Milan are currently in talks with the player’s camp as they look to finalise a deal. Should the move happen, Boniface could join compatriot Samuel Chukwueze at the San Siro, which would bolster the Rossoneri’s attacking options.
