Transfers: Juventus rekindle Osimhen interest for this one reason

Record Serie A Champions, Juventus, have rekindled their interest in Super Eagles and Napoli forward, Victor James Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 26-year-old forward was prolific in his time away from Napoli, as he found the back of the net 37 times in 41 games across all competitions for Galatasaray.

Osimhen's output has now seen several clubs queue up with interest, and although he's declined an offer from the Old Ladies in the past, they're still keen on bringing him to Turin.

As per Juve FC, Igor Tudor's side remain determined to sign Osimhen, as he's the target they have been pursuing since Cristiano Giuntoli took over as sporting director.

The club’s leadership view the Super Eagles star as a high-calibre forward who could transform their attack and provide consistent goal-scoring returns, although they recently secured the services of Jonathan David.

The quality of Juve's attack in recent years have significantly dropped since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club, as most of their forwards have struggled to adapt to the high demands of the Italian League.

This is the major reason why the Bianconeri are not throwing the towel in on a deal for Osimhen as his record in the League speaks for itself.

Juve are currently are preparing for a significant shift in their attacking department and are open to parting ways with Dusan Vlahovic during this transfer window, as that would free up the space for Osimhen.

The physical presence, finishing ability and movement off the ball of the ex-LOSC Lille striker would make him a vital asset in Igor Tudor’s system.

Competition from other European clubs

Osimhen is keen to remain in Europe’s top leagues, having declined two mouth-watering offers from Saudi Pro League side, Al Hilal.

Juventus are not in a solo pursuit of the former Wolfsburg striker as they face competition from other clubs like Galatasaray, who are making serious efforts to secure his signature. Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have made their interest known, but the links seem to have faded in recent weeks.

According to Calciomercato, Galatasaray have prioritised signing Osimhen this summer following his impressive loan spell with the Turkish side last season as he played a key role in helping them secure both the league title and the Turkish Cup, which has led the club to pursue a permanent deal.

However, Juventus remain hopeful that their project and the appeal of remaining in one of Europe’s top five leagues will persuade Osimhen to choose Turin over Istanbul, or anywhere else.

It is likely that Napoli will frustrate Juve's attempts to sign the 2023 CAF Player of the Year, because they don't want to sell to a direct rival, meaning Osimhen will most likely play outside of Italy this season.
