Former Leicester City attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho, has been the subject of a transfer move away from Sevilla following his subpar performance for the club…

Super Eagles attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho, has sparked questions about his future at Sevilla with his return to full training as transfer links to Watford, Panathinaikos, and Al Ahly persist, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian international was spotted training with Sevilla’s first team today under new manager Matías Almeyda to mark his first full session since preseason resumed.

Until now, Iheanacho had been training separately due to fitness issues following a reported bout of indigestion, per Spanish outlet, AS.

His return comes amid fresh speculation. It would be recalled that Sevilla’s former manager, Xavier García Pimienta, openly admitted back in January.

“I don’t know if Kelechi will stay until the end of the season. There have been offers for him; he is established in England and I’m sure he wants to play more. I understand that he wants to leave.” he sad as quoted by SABC.

After a quiet loan spell at Middlesbrough — just one goal in 15 league appearances — Sevilla are reportedly still keen to offload the Nigerian forward to reduce their wage bill.

AS claims Iheanacho’s salary, estimated at €4 million annually, remains a financial strain on the club.

Soccernet Verdict: Out the Door or Back in the Team For Iheanacho?

While Iheanacho’s return to full training suggests a possible reintegration under Matías Almeyda, the reality leans more towards an eventual exit.

Per AS, Sevilla’s financial motivation to cut down on high wages — alongside Iheanacho’s underwhelming loan spell at Middlesbrough — makes it unlikely he will feature prominently in Almeyda’s plans.

His return to training may simply be a strategic move to maintain fitness with his camp working on securing a transfer.

Not to forget that clubs like Watford, Panathinaikos, and Al Ahly remain in the background, and with less than a year left on his contract, Sevilla are expected to prioritise moving him on before the transfer window closes.
