Super Lig giants confident of sealing Onuachu deal despite Southampton’s tough stance

Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor are pushing hard to wrap up a deal for Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu before the player heads off on holiday, Soccernet.ng reports.

However, reports suggest that the Nigerian attacker's exit is still on the line, as Southampton are proving to be a tough negotiator.

According to Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba, the Turkish outfit are keen to finalise the transfer as soon as possible and have made significant progress in talks.

However, Southampton are reportedly demanding a higher upfront payment in the first installments, which has slowed down negotiations.

Despite the hold-up, there is growing optimism on Southampton and Trabzonspor that an agreement will eventually be reached.

Onuachu, who spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor from Southampton, enjoyed a stellar campaign—scoring 17 goals and contributing four assists in just 25 appearances. His performances have made him the club’s top transfer target since the end of his loan deal.

According to Footy Africa, the 31-year-old is expected to sign a three-year contract once final details are ironed out.

The deal would mark a significant coup for Trabzonspor, who are eager to secure a player that quickly became a fan favourite during his brief spell in Turkey.
