Super Eagles and Rangers forward, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, is closing in on a move to 13-time Greek Champions, AEK Athens, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 30-year-old goalscorer moved to Ibrox in the summer of 2023, joining the record Scottish Champions for €5m on a four-year deal.

Life in Scotland has been dilly-dallying for Dessers, as he won over half the Rangers fans, while the other half couldn't wait to get rid of him because of how frustrating it can be watching the former Cremonese striker squander chances.

However, Dessers' goalscoring record at Rangers is decent. He's found the back of the net 51 times and set up another 16 goals for his teammates in 109 appearances across all competitions.

The 1.85-m tall striker is now considering a future away from Rangers, who are undergoing quite several changes this summer. They've been acquired by new owners (the 49ers) and appointed a new coach (Russell Martin).

According to the Daily Record, AEK Athens have made the Super Eagles striker their priority target this summer, with their new owner ready to splash big to make his club compete in big competitions again.

Dessers has verbally agreed to a £30,000-a-week deal with Greek Champions that will see him earn around 1.8 million euros annually. The only details of the transfer left to be completed is with Rangers. With the striker, he's set to go.

Should a deal to Greece work out for Dessers, he'll become teammates with former Manchester United forward, Anthony Martial and former Tottenham midfielder, Erik Lamela.
