Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho (SJK) have secured the signing of promising 19-year-old Nigerian striker Chinedu Umeh on a professional contract, Soccernet.ng reports.

This follows his impressive performances with SJK Akatemia in both the Ykkösliiga and Kakkonen.

The right-footed centre-forward previously represented Atlantic Business FC, a Lagos-based club operating from the city of Lekki.

During his time in Nigeria, Umeh showcased his attacking prowess by scoring an astonishing 65 goals in 120 matches, across competitions including the Nigerian National League One (third tier), the Nigerian Youth League, and the highly competitive Creative Championship—a private, talent-focused tournament.

Umeh is a goal-hungry attacker with an instinct for pressing high and punishing defenders and is also known for his relentless work ethic.

“This is a good club,” Umeh told the club’s official channels. “The team and the coaches are great, and everyone works hard on and off the pitch. We’ve been improving all the time, and I’m really happy with how things are done here. I’m ready to give my all.”

Further speaking about his move, Umeh praised the country and the club’s infrastructure:

“The country is good, you know. Also, the team is a nice team – their development structure is very good and the facilities are top notch. It's one of the best in the country. As a young player, you can develop yourself here if you want to work hard.”

The forward also shared how warmly the club and his new teammates have received him:

“I've made a lot of friends here. Everyone has welcomed me – they're really good.”

Despite his youth, Umeh is already looking ahead with clear ambition. His ultimate goal is to one day play in the UEFA Champions League, and he sees his current spell with SJK Akatemia as the first step in that journey.

“I'm just working on myself for now. I'm using this opportunity to grow, you know. Here is just a starting point for me. I have my dreams.”

SJK will hope that Umeh’s hunger will help propel the club forward—and that Seinäjoki will be just the beginning of a bright European journey for the wonderkid.
