The maiden edition of the FIFA Club World Cup is set to kick off next week in the United States of America, and 36 teams will battle to emerge as champions of the world for club football.

Inter Milan are one of the participating teams, and they will look to bounce back from their humiliating 5-0 demolition against PSG in the final of the UEFA Champions League.

The Nerazzurri are in Group E of the competition, alongside River Plate, Urawa Red Diamonds, and CF Monterrey. And they will look to put up a big fight under the tutelage of new coach Cristian Chivu.

The 44-year-old Romanian tactician just took over from Simone Inzaghi after the latter left for Al Hilal.

Chivu is expected to wring some changes at Inter Milan in terms of personnel and playing style, and former Flying Eagles invitee Ebenezer Akinsanmiro could benefit from it.

Former Flying Eagles invitee Ebenezer Akinsanmiro joined Inter Milan from Remo Stars in 2023, but he has struggled to make a mark there.

He spent his first season with the Under-19s under the tutelage of Cristian Chivu, and he was quite impressive that he earned multiple call-ups to the senior team.

However, he could not get a regular starting shirt in the senior team and had to move to Serie B club Sampdoria in a season-long loan deal.

Akinsanmiro was a regular for Sampdoria in the just-concluded campaign, featuring in 35 games, with one assist and one goal to his name. Unfortunately for Sampdoria, he could not help them survive the drop.

The 20-year-old midfielder has returned to Inter Milan following the expiration of his loan deal, and he can fancy his chances at becoming a getting a shot with the senior team.

Recall that Chivu was Akinsanmiro's coach with Inter Milan's Under-19s, and given their past relationship, the the Romanian would be happy to work with him again.

With the FIFA Club World Cup just a week away, Akinsanmiro might even make the squad for the competition.
