Getafe coach Jose Bordalas has praised Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche for his seamless adjustment to La Liga football despite just joining from lower tier club Ceuta, Soccernet.ng reports.

Uche has enjoyed a remarkable debut season at Getafe after his big move from third-tier Primera Federacion club Ceuta. Most times, when players make such a big move, they end up playing a peripheral role.

However, that is not the case for Uche, as he has played an important role for them this season, contributing four goals and five assists in 32 appearances.

Uche is strong, quick, a good dribbler, and has great ball control. His performances have even seen him linked with top clubs like Chelsea and West Ham.

Getafe play their final game of the season against Celta Vigo on Saturday. And they will be looking to end the season on a high in front of their home fans.

Ahead of the game, coach Bordalas was asked about his thoughts on Uche's debut season at Getafe, and he had some nice words for the 22-year-old midfielder.

“He's a fabulous kid, we have a lot of affection for him,” Bordalas said, per Infobiwenger.

“All players go through a process. He reached professional football without going through any stages, and at times it was difficult for him.

“We tried to help him, and he's helped us a lot, too. It was a risky gamble; there's room for improvement, but he's had a great season.”

Uche was clutch for Getafe in their last game, as he scored the winner in their 2-1 victory at Mallorca last week. That win ended Valencia six-game losing streak and confirmed their place in LaLiga next season.

It's all about consolidation for Christantus Uche

Christantus Uche has enjoyed a brilliant rise at Getafe, and he should now be focused on improving on his game.

The 22-year-old has already shown that he has quality. But he would have to work on his temperament, and decision-making.

The good thing for him is that Getafe is a good place for him to hone his skills and get better. But if he performs better next season, he should start looking at moving to a bigger club where he will rub shoulders with better players.
