French Ligue 1 club Marseille are keeping tabs on Super Eagles defender Jordan Torunarigha ahead of a potential move in the summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
In the last two years, there have been a lot of talks that Torunarigha would leave Gent following his impressive performances for the club.
Last summer, the 27-year-old centre-back was heavily linked with a move to German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim, but noting concrete happened as Gent refused to let him go.

Serie A club Torino and English clubs Crystal Palace and Leeds United were also linked with Torunarigha, but nothing serious happened. Due to this, he did not participate in the first few games of the season.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Gent have also tried to get Torunarigha to sign an extension, but the Nigerian has refused.
Now, according to Berliner Kurier, Marseille are monitoring Torunarigha’s situation at Gent. Even though they are second in Ligue 1, Les Phoceens have the worst defensive record among the top eight clubs. They have conceded 42 goals in Ligue 1 this season. But their attack has made the difference as they have scored 62 goals, the second-highest haul in the French top-flight.
Torunarigha will be a free agent, so Marseille would be happy that they do not have to pay a fee to Gent.
Who is Marseille’s new target Jordan Torunarigha?
Jordan Torunarigha is a Nigerian defender who currently plays for Gent. He was born in Chemnitz, Germany and played for them at youth level. But he decided to switch to Nigeria for senior football.
At club level, the 6ft tall striker started from the Chemmitz youth team, but he then switched to the Hertha Berlin academy before going on to play for the senior team.

However, due to his inability to seal a place in the first team, he had to go on different loan deals at Gent before sealing a permanent transfer in 2022. He has gone on to make 142 appearances for the club.
At International level, Torunarigha made his debut on October 16, 2023 in an international friendly against Mozambique.
The 27-year-old defender has a strong aerial presence and us a good tackler. So he could be a good addition to the Marseille squad.
