With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Gent have also tried to get Torunarigha to sign an extension, but the Nigerian has refused.

Now, according to Berliner Kurier, Marseille are monitoring Torunarigha's situation at Gent. Even though they are second in Ligue 1, Les Phoceens have the worst defensive record among the top eight clubs. They have conceded 42 goals in Ligue 1 this season. But their attack has made the difference as they have scored 62 goals, the second-highest haul in the French top-flight.

Torunarigha will be a free agent, so Marseille would be happy that they do not have to pay a fee to Gent.
