Three-time UEFA Champions League winners, Manchester United, have been linked with Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 26-year-old goalscorer has been touted as the solution to the goalscoring problems of Ruben Amorim’s side, who already have Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as striking options.
Manchester United are looking to overhaul their squad this summer to build a team that will fit their coach’s tactical style ahead of a new season, putting this terrible campaign behind them.

While the Napoli loanee is available for a cheaper fee this season than he was in the last campaign, Manchester United are ready to pull the plug on a potential deal due to the demands of the Super Eagles star.

It is widely expected that Osimhen’s wages will cost the Red Devils about £9.4m per year after tax, and that’ll make him the 6th highest earner at the club, as per Capology, behind Harry Maguire, Mattijs De Ligt, Mason Mount, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.
United’s owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has made it clear that his side are trying to re-arrange a wage structure for the club, going forward, that’ll make them stop overpaying for players with average performances. Due to this, a move for Osimhen might not happen.

Delap will be available for just £30m, and might cost less if the Tractor Boys are relegated to the EFL Championship.
Does Osimhen want Manchester United’s move?
The 2023 CAF Player of the Year is competitive and wants to win several trophies. He’s made it clear he wants to play in the English Premier League.
Manchester United are languishing in the bottom half of the English Premier League while hoping Europa League triumph will seal a Champions League spot for them. Their inconsistency and poor form, on and off the pitch might deter stars from moving to the Theatre of Dreams, Osimhen included.
Additionally, several clubs are competing for the signature of the Galatasaray striker. While Manchester United’s finances might take a hit for bringing the Napoli loanee to the club, other clubs might be able to comfortably welcome the Nigerian superstar.
Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to see where the Nigerian ends up next summer. It is clear he won’t play for Napoli again.
