“Half the team needs to go” – Nigerian Afrobeats superstar slams Manchester United players

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Fireboy DML, has slammed Manchester United players for their poor performances in the English Premier League this season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ruben Amorim's side are currently on their worst run in over two decades, as they're currently 14th on the Premier League table, just three points above West Ham United who are 17th.

Yesterday, the Red Devils lost 4-1 to Newcastle United. Fireboy, who is a Manchester United fan, bashed the team as a collective, although he's not particularly shocked about their terrible form.

“I feel like we are done over, and that's okay. It happens; we'll be fine. It'll probably be the same next season as well.

“The mess we're in? It'll take about two years to get out. Two years of Amorim getting the players that he needs. I'm fine with just watching,” the Peru crooner said on the 90s baby show.

Quizzed about the first player he'd want to exit the team ahead of the summer squad overhaul, the 29-year-old admitted Bruno Fernandes is head and shoulders above his teammates.

“There are a lot of people that need to go. Maybe Lindelof, but let's not get into it. I can really get emotional talking about this. Half the team needs to go, and I don't even mean it in a bad way. Just get out. It's all love.

“A few people are saying Bruno out. No way. Why? That is the only player that we've bought in the past five years that has remained valid. He needs to stay and win a trophy. He's given his all for that team.”

Quizzed about Jamie Carragher's comments about the AFCON tournament, Fireboy revealed that only the opinions of Africans should matter.

“AFCON is a major tournament to Africans. Why should it matter what Jamie Carragher thinks? It matters to us, means a lot, and that's what we should focus on. Carragher loves to talk; that's how he makes his money.

“It means a lot to me, I'm tuned in to watch every game. Let's just build our structure and be better. We'll see what people will say.”

Fireboy's comments about football in recent times has shown he's an avid follower of the game, joining Wizkid, Tems, and Arya Star on the list of Nigerian vocalists who have an interest in football.
