Liverpool, Chelsea get extra reason to sign Victor Osimhen instead of Alexander Isak

Liverpool, Arsenal, and other clubs weighing up a move for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen or Alexander Isak may now opt to push for the Nigerian striker instead, as Isak's market value has increased from €75 million to €100 million, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen and Isak are two of the hottest young strikers in the world at the moment, and both of them have attracted interest from many top European clubs. Both players have been linked to English Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United in previous years, but nothing concrete has emerged yet.

Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray, and this is due to his inability to get a big transfer from Napoli last summer. Napoli were demanding as much as €120 million for the former Lille man last summer when his Transfermarkt value was around €122-€120 million and that was a major reason for his inability to secure a move.

However, the 25-year-old superstar is now valued at €75 million on Transfermarkt, and Napoli have also dropped their asking price to the same figure.

Meanwhile, Isak has been on a roll this season, producing 22 goals and five assists in 33 appearances for Newcastle, becoming their most important player.

Transfermarkt have valued the Swedish striker at Isak €75 million since May 2024. But his price has now seen a significant increase. In the latest update shared by the website, which uses player data and statistics to determine their values, Isak's price has now shot up to €100 million, placing him in the elite class of strikers with a market value of €100million. The other players on this list are Erling Haaland (€200m), Kylian Mbappé (€160m), and Lautaro Martínez (€110m).

Why the big boys might prefer Osimhen to Isak

In terms of talent or ability, Isak is not clear of Osimhen. But as strikers, they have different attributes and any club moving for them would put these attributes into consideration.

However, with the inflated transfer marks, clubs will always be looking for cheaper options. And as Isak is not clearly better than Osimhen, they might prefer the Nigerian striker. Moreover, Newcastle might even demand as high as €150 for any clubs interested.

It's just the logical thing for every business, you would go for a cheaper option when the expensive option is not clearly better.

Nottingham Forest star Ola Aina has seen his price rise significantly following his brilliant performance for his club this season. The Super Eagles star's value rose from € 12 million to €14 million last December. But now, it has even surged further to €20 million.

Fulham star Calvin Bassey's value has also shot up significantly. His valued has been at €16 million since December 2023, but it has now increased to €25million.
