French Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint-Germain, put up a shocking performance at the Anfield Stadium as they knocked Liverpool out of the UEFA Champions League, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Parisiens were down to a 1-nil defeat to the English Premier League table-toppers at Parc des Princes but a dramatic turnaround in England secured their place in the next round.

This has been well received by the former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh who could not hide his admiration for Luis Enrique’s side in the clash.

Oliseh Lauds PSG’s Tactical Brilliance

Taking to social media after the match, Oliseh gave all praises to Spanish gaffer, Luis Enrique for PSG’s intensity, particularly their pressing and fluid passing.

“Damn, this Paris Saint-Germain squad is extremely talented. I just love the way they actively steal balls from the opposition and play in triangles. Had a blast watching them as they eliminated Liverpool on penalties, 1-4. Bravo, coach Luis Enrique!” he wrote.

The former Nigerian international also responded to a fan who weighed in on Enrique’s impact, revealing why he wanted PSG to progress.

He added: “Well spoken, Tobby. I actually wanted them to win because of the effort and the ill luck they suffered in the first leg.”

Liverpool Crash Out After Anfield Shootout Drama

Liverpool entered the second leg with a slim 1-0 lead from their trip to France, but PSG responded with a 1-0 win of their own at Anfield, forcing the tie into penalties.

Ousmane Dembélé’s goal ensured Enrique’s men had a fighting chance, and in the decisive shootout, the Parisians held their nerve while Darwin Núñez and Curtis Jones saw their penalties saved. The 4-1 shootout defeat ended Liverpool’s Champions League journey.

PSG’s Next Challenge in the UCL

With Liverpool out of the way, PSG will now face the winner of the Aston Villa vs. Club Brugge tie in the quarterfinals.

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa hold a 3-1 advantage from their first leg in Belgium and will look to confirm their progression when they host Brugge at Villa Park tonight.

Luis Enrique’s side will now turn their attention to their next European challenge as they chase Champions League glory.
