Former Scotland star Kris Boyd believes Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers is decent, but Rangers cannot rely on him in clutch moments, Soccernet.ng reports.
Dessers has had a topsy-turvy stay at Rangers since his transfer from Crotone two seasons ago. The Super Eagles striker has contributed 45 goals in 100 appearances across all competitions.
However, he has gotten a lot of flacks due to his penchant for missing chances. Due to the constant criticisms from fans, there were speculations that Dessers would even leave Rangers last season, but the talks did not materialize.

This season, coach Philippe Clement relegated to the bench, choosing Hamza Igamane until they started struggling up front.
Dessers scored the winning goal for the Gers lat weekend, when they came from behind to defeat Dundee 4-3.
Following that performance, former Scotland striker Boyd has shared his take on Dessers. And while he admits that the Super Eagles star is decent, he cannot be relied in clutch moments.
“For me, I think it’s the type of chances that Cyriel Dessers misses. Because he could miss an easy chance now and the next minute, he’ll just pluck one out of the air like at Old Trafford where he scored an unbelievable finish,” Boyd told the Scottish Sun Sport.
“I think he’s a scorer of good goals but I don’t think he’s a natural finisher. But his numbers are decent.
“You do feel kind of sorry for him sometimes because he is going to get criticized because of the chances he misses. And you think in games where you’re just needing a goalscorer just to snuff out an opportunity to kill a game off or to steal something, (Dessers won’t deliever). But he won’t throw in the towel, he will go back for more.
Cyriel Dessers has to do something big to gain Rangers fans’ respect
Most Rangers fans are unhappy at their failure to beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title for the past four years. Hence, they are taking out their frustration at Dessers, who has not exactly convered himself in glory.

This season, Celtic already have one hand on the Premiership title as the Gers sit 13 points behind them. So Rangers fans are already looking up to next season.
If Dessers can be the x-factor for the Gers next season and help them win the Scottish Premiership, they would surely change their opinion of him.
