16-time Super Lig champions to battle Lazio for Rafiu Durosinmi

Former Turkish Super Lig champions Besiktas are exploring the possibility of signing Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi from Slavia Prague in the summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

Durosinmi has been turning heads with his impressive performances since returning from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury which ruled him out of action for over a year.

Before his injury, he was on the verge of a transfer to German side Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023, but the move fell through due to his injury. After his long layoff, Durosinmi returned to action in early February, and he has been impressive since then.

The 22-year-old striker has registered five goals and two assists in his last seven starts for Slavia Prague. His brilliance has attracted serious interest from Serie A side Lazio. Soccernet.ng even reported earlier that they were close to finalizing a deal with Slavia Prague for his services.

However, the Biancocelesti now have company as Lazio News reports that Besiktas are also plotting a move for the Nigerian striker.

Durosinmi is currently valued at €4.1 million, but Slavia Prague would surely demand for up to double of that to make the deal happen.

Where will be the best location for Durosinmi, Besiktas or Lazio?

Besiktas are one of the biggest clubs in Turkey as they have 16 Turkish Super Lig titles. However, the Super Lig might be a bit too toxic for him, given the big rivalry between Istanbul and the other Istanbul clubs. Moreover, he would get more visibility at Lazio.

The Biancocelesti are not a regular Scudetto challenger, so the expectations may be a bit measured. Moreover, Lazio has been a good grooming ground, with players like Matteo Guendouzi, Loum Tchaouna, and Nuno Tavares al improving in the last few years.

At Lazio, Durosinmi would rub shoulders with better players and that would also rub off on him and set him up for a bigger move in a few years.

With the summer fast approaching, Durosinmi will have to make his decision quickly.
