Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, is set to become the next Victor Osimhen after suffering a broken nose in his side’s FA Cup clash against Exeter City, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 27-year-old collided with the opposition goalkeeper after scoring his side’s second goal, receiving a punch to the head. He had to be stretchered off the pitch after suffering a concussion and a broken nose.
As a result, Awoniyi, just like Osimhen, is set to start using a protection mask to shield his face from further damage.

Nottingham Forest head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, confirmed the former Mainz 05 striker will be out for about twelve days for the club to ensure he’s safe to play again before returning to action.
“He broke his nose so he is in pain. We are waiting for the right protocols to be followed, we have to wait and see if he is available because of concussion. We have to be careful. He looks OK. He smiled. He is in pain, but in these situations, we have to be careful. The right protocols, two or three days to settle down and we’ll see if he is available,” the former Tottenham Hotspur manager said in quotes revealed by Nottingham Post.

“He is looking at his mask because it has to be the right measurements. He is waiting on that, but more than anything at this time, we are waiting on the clearance of the concussion protocols so I am not sure whether he is going to be available or not. We have to wait,” the Portuguese gaffer concluded.
After suffering a concussion, Awoniyi will miss Forest’s Saturday trip to tackle Alex Iwobi’s Fulham FC but could make his return in their heated clash next Sunday against Newcastle United.
