Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has sparked reactions with his recent social media activity following José Mourinho's controversial post-match comments after Fenerbahçe’s goalless draw against Galatasaray, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Napoli-owned striker took to his page to reshare Galatasaray’s official statement condemning Mourinho for allegedly making a racist remark.

The fierce Istanbul derby saw over 30,000 police officers deployed to maintain order, ensuring security throughout the game. However, the match ended in a goalless draw, leaving little impact on the standings of the two Turkish league frontrunners.

After the game, former Chelsea manager Mourinho slammed Galatasaray players for excessive diving, using a phrase that has since been labelled racist.

“I must also thank the Turkish referee… after the big dive in the first minutes and that bench jumping like a monkey. [Usually] for Turkish referees, you'd have a yellow card after one minute, and after five minutes, I would have to change him [my player]. So thankfully, it was perfect,” Mourinho said.

Galatasaray swiftly responded with a strongly worded statement:

“Fenerbahçe Technical Director Jose Mourinho, who has been regularly making derogatory remarks against the Turkish people since he started working in Turkey, has today added inhumane statements to his immoral statements. We would like to inform you that we will file a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office and also file a complaint with UEFA and FIFA due to these racist statements by Jose Mourinho. In addition to all these initiatives, we will be monitoring the attitude of our ‘moral symbol’ rival’s technical directors regarding this statement.”

Osimhen, who was previously criticized by Mourinho for diving during their time in Italy, reshared this statement, further fuelling discussions on social media.

As of now, Turkish authorities have not announced any investigation into the matter, but a response is expected in the coming days.
