Former Super Eagles forward and current Enyimba FC chairman, Kanu Nwankwo, has charged the team to aim for a successful 2024/25 season campaign, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Aba Warriors, currently sitting ninth in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), have struggled to replicate their past successes since Finidi George—who previously led them to a league title—departed.
According to a report by Complete Sports, team manager Prince Nwabeke revealed Kanu’s ambitious targets for the club.
The former Arsenal star has set a clear goal for the team: to either win the league title or secure a top-three finish to qualify for continental tournaments.
“The chairman, Nwankwo Kanu, has made it clear: ‘It’s either you win the league title or secure a continental ticket—nothing less.’
“So, we’re working hard to achieve that goal. We have three outstanding matches, and we are focused on securing nine points from those games,” Nwabeke stated.
This drive for success coincides with the return of former West Bromwich Albion striker Brown Ideye, who recently joined Enyimba on a short-term deal. Ideye’s move marks his return to the NPFL after 18 years, following his exit from Ocean Boys.

The team recently secured an emphatic 4-1 victory over Mozambique’s Black Bulls in the CAF Confederation Cup. They will be aiming to build on this momentum to achieve their first NPFL triumph since their 2-1 win over Ikorodu FC in 2018.
