Rangers head coach, Philippe Clement, lauded Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, in his side’s 5-0 win over Fraserburgh, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 30-year-old lost his place in the Gers’ starting lineup last November to Morrocan U-23 striker, Hamza Igamane, due to his inconsistency in front of goal.
Drafted into the first eleven tonight, Dessers exemplified the very reason why he had been benched for almost six weeks inside six minutes, missing an open goal when gifted the chance.

Despite missing an early sitter, the former Feyenoord man went on to score a hat-trick. His ability to keep trying despite mishaps drew praise from Clement.
“It proved his mentality, the way he has been working in the last few weeks when he has played less than before due to the rise of Hamza. Cyriel is a very good character in the dressing room who works hard and he got his reward for all of that hard work,” the Belgian manager said as revealed by Rangers’ official website.

Up next for the Scottish Record Champions is a trip to Old Trafford in the UEFA Europa League, where they’ll take on Ruben Amorim’s misfiring side, and the Rangers boss highlighted his side need to be prepared for the huge clash.
“In the next few days we will have some recovery time and then we will train before going to Manchester. We need to be physically, mentally and tactically ready for a big game.
“We are in a very good position in the Europa League, but this is a huge challenge with some players out due to injuries and others not on the list. It is a challenge, but it is a nice one and we are going to go full to try and get the maximum points there,” Philippe Clement concluded.
Manchester United are currently 13th on the English Premier League table while they sit in 7th on the UEFA Europa League Group Phase table, a point above Rangers.
