Leicester City head coach gives positive update on Wilfred Ndidi’s injury situation

Leicester City head coach, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, has revealed Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, is nearing full fitness after being out injured for the past month, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old was withdrawn in the 52nd minute against Brighton and Hove Albion on the 28th of December 2024 and has not returned to the pitch since then.

Soccernet.ng confirmed the one-time FA Cup winner picked up a hamstring in that tie, and was required to be out of action for a while to aid his full recovery.

In Ndidi's absence, The Foxes have lost all five games. They've dropped points against Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa, scoring two and conceding fourteen.

With a quest for silverware to patch up their already terrible season, Leicester head coach, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, confirmed his side will be without the pivotal midfielder when they take on Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup third round at the King Power Stadium.

“Ndidi is continuing his individual training. He’s not yet with the team. He’s pushing harder on an individual basis. Hopefully, we can welcome him to team training in the coming weeks but it’s not a matter that he will be part of it in the coming games.

“Jannik has been assessed and he’s made his steps after he had to come off. We’re looking to get him on the pitch today or tomorrow and get him ready for QPR, but it’s doubtful.

“There’s no new injuries. Kasey McAteer is back in full team training and if he can continue that today and tomorrow, he could be available for the game,” the ex-Manchester United forward said about his side's injury problems in quotes revealed by Yahoo Sports.

While Ndidi's return to training is a big boost for the 2016 English Premier League winners, they still have a lot to do if they will remain in the English top flight when the season comes to an end.

Leicester City are currently 19th on the Premier League table, eight points above Southampton and have just three wins from twenty games this campaign.
