Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr have opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen over the transfer of Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface, Soccernet.ng reports.
Boniface has attracted much attention following his impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen since joining them from Royale Union SG for €21.7 million two years ago.
The Super Eagles star has produced 29 goals and 11 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions for Die Werkself. He was an integral part of their Bundesliga triumph last season, contributing 14 goals and nine assists.
This season, he has not slowed down, as he produced eight goals and one assist in 15 appearances before suffering a thigh injury last November.
Meanwhile, in recent weeks, there have been speculations that Boniface has suitors from Saudi Arabia and England.
Now, the interest has been confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. According to the Italian journalist, Al Nassr have officially opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a possible move for the 24-year-old striker.
Al Nassr want Boniface to replace Talisca, who is set to sign for Turkish Super Lig giants in the coming days.
The Super Eagles striker is valued at €45 million on Transfermarkt, but Bayer Leverkusen can be a tough nut to crack when selling their best players.
Ordinarily, Die Werkself would demand up to €50 million from any other European club. However, Saudi Arabian clubs are known to be big spenders so they could ask for way more.
The deal would also be enticing for Boniface, as Al Nassr would offer him a bumper package bigger than what any other European club would be willing to offer him.
Another thing that could attract Boniface is the prospect of playing with the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo. Although the Super Eagles star loves Neymar, the prospect of playing alongside Ronaldo would be an attractive option for any player.
Bayer Leverkusen have put a contract extension offer on the table and there are reports that Boniface is close to signing. But with the Saudi links now serious, Boniface has a big decision to make.
