New Sevilla signing Akor Adams has disclosed that fellow compatriot Chidera Ejuke played a key role in his decision to join the La Liga side, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian forward joined Sevilla from Montpellier to solve the Spanish side’s goal crises for a fee in the region of €5.5 million and on a four-year deal.
To add fuel to fire, it is reported to have been signed as a replacement for Kelechi Iheanacho who is adjusting to life slowly in Spain.
Speaking at his first interview as a Sevilla player, Adams has revealed speaking to Iheanacho and Ejuke, who had encouraged him to join the club.
“I spoke to Ejuke and he told me that I had to come here, that I would love it. Kelechi is a great player and he also told me that. I’m very happy that I listened to them.” he said via the club’s official page.
Ejuke, who has earlier moved to the La Liga side already knows how Sevilla’s system works and could help Adams showcase his talent on a bigger stage.
Adams, who has struggled in the French Ligue 1 this season, will look to make an impact with the Spanish side as they aim to strengthen their attacking options.
The 24-year-old is expected to feature for against Getafe CF at the weekend, and hope to make a positive performance as they aim to secure three points that could send them straight to the sixth place of the standings.
