The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda in the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to take place in Morocco, Soccernet.ng reports.

The draw, conducted using the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) pot system, placed Nigeria in a competitive group as they look to secure a fourth AFCON title.

Tunisia, renowned for their strong performances on the continental stage, and a familiar foe to the Super Eagles, are expected to pose significant challenges, while Tanzania and Uganda bring a determined edge to the group.

Nigeria, seeded in Pot 1, avoided some of Africa’s other top-ranked teams like Morocco, Senegal and others but will need to be at their best to navigate the tricky group.

The tournament will allow the Super Eagles to return with a big determination to secure the AFCON after 12 years in South Africa.

The Jose Peseiro-led side were close to the title at the 2023 AFCON tournament but Cote d'Ivoire's solid performance relegated them to the Silver medal.

The tournament slated to kick off in December 2025 to January 2026 will see the Super Eagles locking horns with Tunisia, who last showed the Super Eagles the exit door with a 0-1 victory at the 2021 AFCON tournament.

In the game, Youssef Msakni scored to give previously unimpressive Tunisia a shock 1-0 triumph over 10-man Nigeria in Garoua in the last-16 match.

Regardless of these results, Nigeria, which raised the bar in the last AFCON tournament, will aim to surpass its previous achievement in the coming tournament.
