AC Milan receive bids for Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze amid Real Sociedad and Saudi interest

AC Milan have received bids for Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze, who has struggled to nail down a starring role since arriving from Villarreal in 2023, Soccernet.ng reports.

Despite his troubles at Milan, Chukwueze’s quality is not in doubt with La Liga side Real Sociedad and several Saudi Arabian clubs expressing interest in a potential January transfer.

Reports from Spain indicate that Real Sociedad are keen on bringing the 25-year-old back to La Liga, having closely monitored his situation since his move to Milan last summer.

The Basque club, currently competing in the Europa League, see Samuel Chukwueze as a player who could add dynamism and creativity to their attack.

Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira has confirmed that Milan have received formal offers for the former Villarreal star.

However, despite the growing speculation, Chukwueze is reportedly not looking to leave the Rossoneri this month.

The Super Eagles forward, who has recently returned from injury, is determined to fight for his place and prove his worth under Milan boss Sérgio Conceição.

Samuel Chukwueze joined Milan from Villarreal in a €28 million deal but has struggled to make a lasting impact in Italy. His progress has been hindered by injuries, while Christian Pulisic’s strong form has limited his opportunities on the right wing.

Milan, however, are open to selling Chukwueze if the right offer arrives. The club is unwilling to sanction a loan deal and has reportedly set an asking price between €13 million and €18 million.

With his contract running until June 2028 and a net salary of €4 million per season, selling him could provide Milan with financial flexibility to reinforce other areas of the squad.

A return to La Liga with Real Sociedad could offer Chukwueze a fresh start.

The Nigerian spent six years at Villarreal, where he played a key role in their 2021 Europa League triumph. His standout 2022-23 season, featuring 13 goals and 11 assists, secured his high-profile switch to Milan, but his time in Serie A has not gone as planned.

In his first appearance this year, Chukwueze came off the bench to net Milan’s winning goal in their 3-2 comeback win over Parma at the weekend.

The 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup winner was also a second-half substitute as ten-man Milan stumbled to a 2-1 loss to Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb in their final UEFA Champions League group stage match.
