₦9 billion-rated winger eyes 2026 FIFA World Cup spot with Super Eagles

Super Eagles and Sevilla winger, Chidera Ejuke, has his gaze fixed on qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the Nigerian National team, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old made his debut for Nigeria in 2020 during his time with Russian side, CSKA Moscow. However, he’s yet to score or assist a goal for the Super Eagles in eight caps.

His last appearance in the green and white colours of Nigeria came in the AFCON 2021 tournament where he played 57 minutes in the Super Eagles’ 2-0 win over Guinea Bissau.

The former Hertha Berlin striker suffered a high-grade hamstring tear in Sevilla’s 5-1 loss to Barcelona in October 2024, and recently just returned, playing eight minutes in his side’s win against Girona last Saturday.

Upon his return from his lengthy spell on the sidelines, the electric winger has revealed he plans to break into Eric Chelle’s side, with the sole purpose of helping his team qualify for the biggest football tournament on the planet.

“The National team means a lot because I think as a player you always want to be able to represent your country, and when you get the chance it’s always nice, it’s incredible. Playing a World Cup would be very special, and I hope I can do it with the team, for sure,” the former Royal Antwerp forward said in quotes revealed by El Correo.

Nigeria have ground to make up if they’re to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The three-time AFCON winners are currently 5th in their qualifiers group and are yet to win are single game.

The Super Eagles will continue the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers when take on the Republic of Rwanda on March 19th. Three days later, they’ll play against Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
