Two English Premier League sides, Manchester United and Chelsea, are prepared to meet Napoli’s €75m asking price for Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 25-year-old striker was linked with a move away from Naples last summer, with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal keeping tabs on the Nigerian forward.
The former LOSC Lille man eventually moved away from the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona, but only to Turkish Super Lig side, Galatasaray, on a season-long loan, as none of the teams interested were willing to pay his €130m release clause.
Following Osimhen’s move to Turkey, his release clause was slashed to €75m, as he looks to widen his horizon when the transfer window opens in the summer. The Napoli loanee has scored 10 goals and provided five assists in all competitions for the CimBom Aslan this season.
According to Spanish outlet, Fichajes, Manchester United and Chelsea are prepared to activate Osimhen’s release clause in the summer, with Napoli completely ready to part ways with the former VfL Wolfsburg striker.
Manchester United or Chelsea?
It appears Marcus Rashford’s time at Old Trafford is winding down with rumours of an exit beginning to spin after the England international was dropped from the Manchester United squad ahead of the Manchester derby last weekend. Since then, the 27-year-old has not played any game for the Red Devils.

While Osimhen would be a better option than all of United’s current attackers, there is already stiff competition between Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, and it would be unwise to move to a club where he wouldn’t be guaranteed to be an undisputed starter.
Additionally, the record Premier League Champions are in tumultuous waters, and with their form in the league, might not play in any continental competitions next season.
For Chelsea, their squad already has great quality, but Enzo Maresca’s side are looking for a striker who can decide games for them, and make them title contenders.
Although Nicolas Jackson has shown improvement in recent weeks, Chelsea need more depth in the attack. Osimhen could share the goal-scoring burden with the Senegalese and help the Blues improve. It is also worth noting that Osimhen helped Napoli win their first Scudetto in over three decades, showing his pedigree as a serial winner.
With Chelsea currently second on the English Premier League table and Manchester United in the lower half, it will be interesting to see who gets the deal over the line.
