Super Falcons dominate as four stars make CAF Women’s TOTY

Asisat Oshoala, Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie and Rasheedat Ajibade all made sure the Super Falcons were well-represented in the CAF Women’s Best Eleven during the 2024 CAF Awards in Morocco, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian women’s football team put the country on the face of the continent again, with four players included in the CAF Women’s Team of the Year.

Surprisingly, the CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award recipient, Chiamaka Nnadozie, was not included in the team. Instead, South Africa and Mamelodi Sundown’s Andile Dlamini were picked.

In defence, Houston Dash and Nigerian versatile full-back, Michelle Alozie sealed the right-back spot. In central defence, South Africa’s Karabo Dhlamini partners with another Nigerian, Osinachi Ohale. Mamelodi Sundowns’ Lebohang Ramalepe completes the back four.

In midfield, South Africa and Racing Louisville’s Linda Motlaho join Nigeria and Atletico De Madrid Femeni’s Rasheedat Ajibade alongside Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak.

In attack, CAF Player of the Year, Barbra Banda (Zambia/ Orlando Pride) leads the line and is joined by Asisat Oshoala (Nigeria/ Bay FC) and Tabitha Chawinga (Malawi/ Olympique Lyonnais Feminin).

Nigeria had the most representatives in the CAF Women’s Team of the Year during the CAF 2024 Awards in Morocco, leading with four members in the team, while South Africa had three representatives.

On the men’s side, South Africa’s Ronwen-Hayden Williams won the Goalkeeper of the Year Award, while Nigeria and Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman won the African Footballer of the Year Award.
