Ex-Genk goalkeeper confirms interest from Premier League sides for in-form Arokodare

Former KRC Genk goalkeeper, Jacky Mathijssen, has revealed that Nigerian striker, Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare, will soon make a step up to the English Premier League, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old forward is leading the Belgian Pro League goalscoring charts, with 13 goals and four assists in 20 league games for Genk.

Thorsten Fink’s side have scored 40 goals in the league this season, and Arokodare’s numbers have accounted for 43% of the team’s output.

The former Amiens striker, in recent days, drew praise from club legend, Patrick Goots, and has now caught the eye of another in Mathijseen who confirmed Arokodare is drawing interest from English Premier League clubs.

“I’m sure that Premier League clubs are watching him. The striker has a profile that is attractive to many top teams: physically strong, scoring ability and a huge impact on the game.

Tolu may give himself lunacy for his hard work, but the current staff have also played an important role by giving him the confidence he needed,” the 61-year-old said in quotes revealed by Voetbal 24.

Arokodare’s contract with Genk runs till the summer of 2027, and that puts the Belgian side in a dictatorship role in terms of negotiations, as they can make financial demands for their in-form striker, or even decide to wait it out without breaking a sweat as the Nigerian has enough time on his current deal.

However, with interest from the English top-flight, the former FC Koln striker might be tempted, and attempt to force a move away from Genk. As per Transfermarkt, Arokodare’s worth is about €9m, and a sale for that figure will nearly double the amount Fink’s side paid to sign the striker from SC Amiens two years ago.
