“They’re horrendous” – Chelsea legend Mikel Obi blasts Manchester United stars

Former Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi has lambasted Manchester United players following their performance in the club’s 2-0 loss against Newcastle United on Monday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Manchester United lost their fourth game in a row on Monday after falling to a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford. It was a smash and grab job for the Cherries, as they threw everything at Manchester United from the blast of the whistle.

Isak opened the scoring for Newcastle United in the 4th minute before Joelinton doubled the lead after 19 minutes.

It could easy have been more, as the Red Devils were all over the place in the first half. But Eddie Howe’s men just failed to take their opportunities.

Following the result, Chelsea legend Mikel has ripped into the Manchester United players. He criticized their attitude to games and absolved new coach Ruben Amorim.

“Even if you’re not a United fan, it’s awful to watch them. They’re horrendous. Newcastle would’ve been 3-0 up in 20 minutes. It was a disaster,” Mikel said on the Obi One podcast.

“Listen, it’s not the manager’s fault at all. Ruben Amorim is a fantastic and brilliant young manager.

“I’ve said it when he came into the club – the players in United, I’m sorry, they are nowhere good enough to be playing for Manchester United.”

Amorim has had a tough start to life since he joined Manchester United in November 2024. They have lost five of their last ten games in all competitions, one of the worst records ever for a Manchester United coach.

There have been talks that many players will leave Old Trafford in the coming months. Meanwhile, Manchester United fans will hope that their situation improves soon.
