Bologna ready to bring Nigerian youngster who won Scudetto with Inter Milan back to Serie A

Bologna have emerged as serious contenders in the race to sign Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, currently on loan at Serie B side Sampdoria from Inter Milan, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 20-year-old, a rising star in Italian football, is reportedly being closely monitored by Bologna as they aim to strengthen their squad with young, versatile players.

According to Il Secolo XIX as per Samp News24, Bologna have already initiated contact with Inter Milan, who retain the registration rights to Akinsanmiro.

The midfielder has impressed during his loan spell, appearing in 23 matches and scoring once for Sampdoria.

Known for his technical ability, physical presence, and versatility, Akinsanmiro has also caught the attention of foreign clubs, though his immediate future remains tied to Sampdoria.

Inter Milan, keen to manage the player’s development carefully, appear reluctant to rush a transfer decision.

The Nerazzurri reportedly prefer to let Akinsanmiro complete his loan spell, which is set to run until June 2025.

Sampdoria, meanwhile, are eager to keep him and have included a purchase option in the loan agreement.

Having joined Inter Milan in January 2023 from Nigeria’s Remo Stars, Akinsanmiro quickly became a standout performer in their Primavera setup.

His performances earned him first-team call-ups under Simone Inzaghi, culminating in a Serie A debut in February 2024 and a Scudetto winners’ medal later that year.

Bologna’s interest reflects their broader strategy of acquiring emerging talents, as seen with their recent dealings with Inter for Giovanni Fabbian.

Akinsanmiro fits their profile as a player with maturity beyond his years and the potential to thrive in Serie A.

For now, the midfielder remains a key part of Sampdoria’s squad as they push for promotion.

However, the situation is fluid, and Bologna are ready to capitalise on any opportunity should Inter decide to revisit the deal in the summer.
