Why Osimhen is currently better than Haaland – Okan Buruk

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has sparked conversation by naming Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as the best forward in Europe right now, Soccernet.ng reports.

In an interview shared by Assist Analiz, Buruk has named the Super Eagles talisman ahead of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland following his recent performance for his club and country.

Currently the Norwegian have notched 15 goals in his 16 appearances for Man City, while on the contrary, the former LOSC Lille have scored eight goals in his nine appearances.

Buruk acknowledged Haaland’s immense talent but stated that Osimhen’s recent performances have set him apart from the former Borussia Dortmund striker.

“There are not many elite strikers in Europe,” Buruk said. “Haaland may come to mind first, but since Manchester City have lost in recent weeks, I would say Osimhen is the best right now.”

The 25-year-old Osimhen, who has been in superb form for Galatasaray, has impressed with his clinical finishing in the Turkish Super Lig.

His performances have made him one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards, and Buruk’s comments play up the growing recognition of his ability to outperform some of the continent’s top talents.

Although Haaland remains one of the most prolific goal-scorers in Europe, Buruk shifted his focus towards Osimhen’s overall impact on the pitch, particularly following recent struggles for Manchester City.
