Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has revealed his frustration at his side’s loss 4-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, and has backed them to do better, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Cottagers started the game on the front foot, and took the lead in the 20th minute through Iwobi’s brilliant left-footed curler into the top corner of José Sá’s goal, leaving the Wolves goalkeeper stranded.
A Matheus Cunha double, along side goals from Joao Gomes and Goncalo Guedes saw Wolves turn the game around to seal their first away win of the season at the Craven Cottage.
Quizzed about why his side weren’t able to put the game to bed after his goal, Iwobi mentioned his team struggled to dominate, which is something they must improve on going forward.
“I’m not too sure. I feel like second half we didn’t have the same intensity as the first.
That’s how goals quickly change games, and gave them the confidence to kick on. Even though they scored, we need to keep the same composure and remain calm, no matter what.
We struggled to dominate like we did, so credit to them, but we’re going to look at ourselves to improve.
We have to play the game for 90 minutes. We weren’t able to keep the same form that we had in the first half, so we have to analyse and go again.
We can’t dwell on this. We have to keep on going and push on. Obviously, games come thick and fast, so we can put it right in the next game,” the former Arsenal man told Fulham’s official website.
Iwobi’s strike against Wolves was the 25th Premier League goal of his career.
